ADOLF FRANZ SCHUTE With sadness in our hearts, the family of Adolf Schute, announces his passing on Friday, August 3, 2007 at St. Boniface Hospital, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 78. Adolf will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his daughters, Cornelia Jackson (Andrew), Helga Malcolm (David) and son Wilfred Schute (Barb Olson) and his five grandchildren, Bryce, Andrea, Travis, Lindsay and Naffi. He is survived by his brother Heinz Schute and his wife Mia as well as his in-laws Margaret Fennen, Helga Korten, Agnes Kleinhaus (Betz), Hermann Korten (Agnes), Antonia Schute and many nieces, nephews and relatives in Germany. Adolf was predeceased by his wife Bina; his parents, Gerhard and Anna Schute; his brothers, Gerhard, Lukas, Hans, Wilhelm and his wife Anni; his sister Anna; brother-in-laws Bernhard Korten and Hermann Fennen. Adolf was born in Borgerwald, Germany on August 15, 1928. In 1956, he immigrated with his wife-to-be and settled in Winnipeg. They were married at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church on August 4, 1956. A gifted baker by profession, he worked for Lange's Bakery, Dominion Store, Donut House and Safeway over a 37 year career. His second passion was playing and coaching soccer. As a young man he played for his home team in Germany and shared his enthusiasm for the sport here in Winnipeg with youth from the North End. He coached the St. Joseph and Sinclair Park boy teams in the 1960s and 1970s. Adolf also enjoyed many happy and treasured moments with family and friends. He was a member of the German Kolping Society of Winnipeg for many years. Adolf enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends at the families' Spruce Bay cottage, bowling, watching soccer on TV and spending time with his grandchildren. He always looked forward to his trips back to Germany to spend memorable times with family and friends. The family would like to thank the nursing and social work staff at St. Boniface CancerCare and on the 6 floor, for their care and compassion. At the family's request, cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Mountain Avenue and Andrews Street with Rev. Kevin Smith officiating. Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Manitoba Down Syndrome Society or CancerCare Manitoba In tears we saw you sinking. We watched you fade away. You suffered much in silence You fought so hard to stay- You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, So He put his arms around you And whispered, Come to Me . So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful and free from pain, We could not wish you back To suffer that again. We will always love and remember you! Your Family CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
